Housing Updates
On June 30, 2023, the EERP program is ending, which means that landlords will no longer be required to go through mediation as part of the eviction process. However, free mediation COULD still be an option if you are facing eviction. If your landlord agrees to go through mediation with you, both Fulcrum and Northwest Mediation Dispute Resolution Centers have funding to continue assisting folks with evictions, as long as both parties agree.
If you receive an eviction notice and you are interested in mediation, please contact them right away. They can contact your landlord on your behalf, so there is no need to have an awkward conversation with your landlord.
It is also important to know that you have the right to legal counsel in eviction cases. If you have any questions about renting at any time, you can contact the Tenant’s Union of Washington State.
Please use this updated flyer with current resources on it to find the help you need.
